LK Lost Her Third Tooth

Laura Kate lost her third tooth the other day. IMG_5317.JPG

Praise. The. Lord. It happened while Kyle was home.
If you have known me for any length of time, you probably know that I can’t handle teeth. Gives me great anxiety. So much so that I discussed it in pre-marital counseling and I don’t sleep the night before dentist appointments. I’ve had multiple nightmares of having to get dentures. It ranks somewhere above all-red Christmas lights and right below finger-nails on a chalkboard.
I wholeheartedly and completely blame the movie Castaway. (Ok… And maybe the 5 oral surgeries I’ve endured and the 4 years in braces…) Friends don’t let friends watch Castaway.

Anyway, the first two teeth he didn’t make it home from work in time for. So I had to manage and I persevered like a hyperventilating champ and survived nonetheless.
This time, not only happened when Kyle was home, but while I was napping!! She tried to come in and show me and thankfully, Kyle even rescued me from that!!
Way to go LK! And praise the Lord for my studly beast of a man.

Decking The Halls 2014

Even though I’ve cheated a wee bit for Christmas this year (in the name of pregnancy), we still managed to wait for our big traditions of Decking the Halls the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Kyle got all of the boxes out of the garage, and got started putting the lights on the outside while the kids and I started inside. IMG_5443.PNG

It was so, ahem, fun. Especially when Shepherd dropped the first ornament and broke it and stepped on it.

(Running cold water on the cut foot)
BUT, the important thing to remember is that we survived. And got most of the decor out. (I chose to not get out everything like my snow globes… Some things aren’t worth the risk of getting broken). And most importantly, the kids loved it and were SO excited. Especially my little Shepherd boy. He is the most excited of all.
We also continued our tradition of eating Pedro’s tamales and chips and queso for dinner. Overall, a really great weekend to start off the Christmas season.
Falalalala!

Thanksgiving 2014

IMG_5386.JPG

It’s been such a great day with my little family! Since I couldn’t travel now, it was just the 5 (6) of us at home!
My day started off wonderfully with getting to sleep in a little bit (thanks Steady!!) and then snuggling with everyone! IMG_5336.JPG
After I got up and ate breakfast, we watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

(Not sure where LK was when I was taking parade watching pictures).
Sometime in there, I got in the kitchen and got to work on our small feast.
The beauty of it just being our family is just making all of our favorite things!
Our menu this year:
– Ham (because I had an emotional breakdown last year preparing my first turkey and that was WITHOUT all the pregnant hormones… Seriously… No one prepared me for the neck and skin and innards.)
– Green Bean Casserole
– Sweet Potato Casserole (which actually turned out more like marshmallow casserole… Pregnant women shouldn’t be in charge of the marshmallows!!)
– Buttered corn
– Sister Shubert’s Rolls
– Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie (Kyle’s fave and he made it!)
– Holiday Cupcakes that Shepherd helped me make yesterday.
We all LOVED it. Except Shepherd. Who loves the concept of food but not actually eating food. But then is hungry all day and night.

Then tonight, we told the kids we were going for a family drive and surprised them by meeting up briefly with Aunt Sassy and Uncle Ca-Ca and Cohen and Cason! Cassie was so great to bring me the next rotation of clothes from her and Ashley for the boys. (Since there are 6, now 7 boys in the family, we have quite the clothes rotation!!) she brought almost 10 boxes!!!
Before we went, we looked up places that were open for a central place to meet. We found a Whole Foods in Dallas that claimed to be open. They lied, but the parking lot was open so we just made the swap there like any good drug deal. The kids were sooooo excited to see their cousins and it was so nice to see more family even if it was just a quick visit!

A very full and happy day! There is MUCH to be thankful for! I’ll leave you with the sweet words of my 6 year old and her “thankful list”

Preschool Thanksgiving Feast

We had a Thanksgiving Feast at the boys school today and it was so fun!!
The kids sang a cute little turkey song and wore cute little turkey hats!

The food was delicious!! (I was too busy eating and feeding my boys to get a picture).
Each of the kids had a Thanksgiving placemat that said what they are thankful for.

And Shep’s class made these cute pilgrims!!

It was such fun way to kick off the holiday! Looking forward to a fun week with all my kids off of school next week!
