Seriously, What did mom's before June 19, 1941 do with a fussy toddler? How did they survive?
I know, I know....several of my friends reading this are saying, "Carrie, less than a month ago you were still skeptical of the Cheerios....something about choking...blah blah blah"....I know...I was skeptical and yes, even afraid of choking on the cheerios....I have repented and changed my ways.
I know, I know....Babywise would be shocked to hear about my new pacifier and would not agree because it would mess up the "sleep/wake patterns" by changing up her meals. But I beg to differ.... 5 cheerios doesn't even count as a full snack, but can make the difference in a fussy baby vs. a happy baby. No, I do not think it's a good idea to use food to solve problems. No, I don't want to instill that bad habit in my sweet girl. But I think it is a matter of mere survival for the next year...seriously.
In case you're interested, I have a few facts about Cheerios:
- They were created on June 19, 1941 and were/are marketed by General Mills
- It was the first oat-based, ready-to-eat cold ceral
- It was first called Cheeri Oats, but had to change because of a trade name dispute
- in the 50s - 70s, Cheerios advertised with the Cheerios kid who was clumsy and absent-minded until he ate his Cheerios
- In the 70s, there was a Cheerios box that yodeled...."Just Cheerio-yodel"
- throughout the 80s and 90s, The Peanuts gang was featured for Cheerios advertising with the slogan "You're on your toes with Cheerios!"
- In 2009, Shawn Johnson became the first female athlete ever featured on the Cheerios box.
- Over the years there have been over 14 different flavors and varieties of Cheerios.
I feel so much smarter, now! Cheerios are a God-send. So are Gerber puffs.
