Epic Sochi Olympic Party: {Winter 2014}

Today marks the 1 year countdown to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio!!!

I. Love. The Olympics. Like Disney World love. (almost...)

banahbanahbanahbanananahnahnahnahnahnah.... (Don't mind me, that's just me singing the theme music)

For the Opening Ceremonies for the Winter 2014 Games in Sochi, my friend Jen and I (Fun Jen that is), decided to throw an Epic Bash. I've never blogged about it, so I thought this would be a great day to do it on.

We invited all the friends. ALL OF THEM. To gather around my too-small-for-that-many-people TV, and bring food from around the world for an International Smorgasbord to eat while we watched the opening ceremonies and totally geeked out for the night about the Olympics. I do not use the word "Epic" lightly. It. Was. Awesome.

We had a photo booth, complete with American Flag Background, and an Olympic Torch.

Here are some of my favorites from the photo booth:

I made Olympic Rings to hang up by wrapping straw wreaths with streamer rolls. I tried to find pool noodles to make them even bigger but no such luck in February. Next time.. Next time...

The Food. OH, YALL. The Food.

Here is a list of what everyone brought and then pics of the overflowing buffet. We asked everyone who came to bring at least one food item to represent a different country in the Olympics. So much creativity! I was so impressed!

Italian Spaghetti
Irish Mashed Potatoes
Costa Rican Bean Dip
Greek Yogurt
American Pizza
Dutch Apple Pie
French Quiche
Polish Pirogues
Ukrainian Kielbasa
Grecian Hummus and Pita Chips/Bread
Chinese Spring Rolls
French Lemon Cookies
Jamaican Jerk Chicken
Olympic Rings Fruit Pizza
Olympic Torches (Ice cream cones filled with cheetos)

For drinks, I had Gold (Lemonade), Silver (Sprite), and Bronze (Sweet Tea)

This party was so much fun and one of my favorite I've ever hosted. I can't wait to do it again a year from today! How do YOU celebrate the Olympics??
